Deeds, with Deeds boarding a fancy helicopter to claim his $40 billion inheritance (inflation, you know) - except for one thing: Deeds’ realization of how many friends he has is conspicuously absent. Almost exactly the same scene occurs in Steven Brill’s Adam Sandlerized version of the story, Mr. As he looks out over the assembled crowd, he mutters, “Gee, I’ve got a lot of friends.” It’s a simple, heartfelt, wonderful little moment in a film filled with such moments. on his trip to New York to collect his $20 million (interestingly, the amount of Sandler’s guaranteed salary for the new version) inheritance. Deeds Goes to Town, where Longfellow Deeds (Gary Cooper) is packed off on a train by the townsfolk of Mandrake Falls, Vt. This is a pointless film that isn't worth your time. There’s a scene early on in Frank Capra’s 1936 classic, Mr. If you want a comedy with good laughs, you won't find it here. Deeds is a film that definitely should be avoided, the film really doesn't work as a comedy and it ends up being a total mess from start to finish. But now, he misses the mark more often and his use of comedy is pretty stale. Adam Sandler was funny back in the 90's with films like Happy Gilmore, Big Daddy and The Wedding Singer. This is a film that never should have been made, and it's simply one comedy film that you should avoid. This is a poorly made comedy that is more excruciatingly painful that funny. Adam Sandler has been unfunny for quite some time, and films like Mr. I hated this film, and thought it was a waste of film. Deeds suffers from a bad script that doesn't deliver effective comedy or a good story for that matter. Adam Sandler successfully made another terrible film and it just goes to show that the guy should have retired a long time ago. The acting and comic delivery were terrible. ![]() Deeds is an unfunny comedy that is simply awful to watch. The film was terrible, unfunny garbage that just didn't deliver anything good or entertaining for the viewer. ![]() I saw this in the theatre when it came out, and came out disappointed. Deeds is yet another awful Adam Sandler comedy. ![]() This is truly comedic writing at it worst. ![]() Deeds is humorless movie that failed to even get a chuckle out of me. To bad the cast didn't have better material to work with because what they're given is bad and they tried really hard to make it funny, but they couldn't in the end. Sandler does the best acting in this movie in my opinion, though his character did get on my nerve, but that's mostly because of the poorly written script. Now while not all the cast give a good performance, they are likable. The script is missing everything you could want in a comedy as it has no good humor, is poorly pace, has plot-holes that I didn't need to pay to much attention to notice, and timing is indescribably bad beyond words.Įven though the script is bad, the cast prevented this from being unbearable. It's poorly written and filled with humor that doesn't work nor does it have any interesting characters. Now this is one of the few times where the actors aren't the problem when it comes to making us laughs, it's the script. Deeds is about a sweet-natured, small-town guy who inherits a controlling stake in a media conglomerate and begins to do business his way. When you have none of that you get a humorless Sandler movie like Mr. Adam Sandler can provide some laughs when given the right material or even the right character to play in a movie.
